%X Research on optimism and pessimism represents a thread in the broader fabric of inquiry into how personality affects health. If these personality constructs do influence health, then this is one of the prime reasons for them to be measured and studied. Today the field of physical and psychology focueses on the measurement and study of these (and other) personality constructs to increase knowledge regarding the interface between behavior and health.
